Appointed Governors
Governors work with the Board of Directors and represent the interests of our members in the planning of services. The Council of Governors are elected by our public and staff members or appointed to represent community partners, such as the local councils and commissioners.
Nikki Slack - West Nottinghamshire College
Nikki ran her own successful business for 18 years before moving into the education sector in 2003. She has worked in both teaching positions and management and is currently the Assistant Principal at West Notts College.
Nikki’s aim as an appointed governor is to ensure that the younger generation have more influence in the direction of the NHS. She would also like the education system and NHS Trusts to work collaboratively to ensure we have a trained future skilled workforce in every department to provide the patient care that is needed.
Councillor Linda Dales - Newark and Sherwood District Council
Councillor Linda Dales is an appointed governor representing Newark and Sherwood District Council.
She is now retired, having worked for the NHS in the ten years leading up to retirement. She is a member of Collingham Medical Centre's PPG and keen to help ensure that the patient's voice is heard.
Councillor Angie Jackson - Mansfield District Council

Councillor Angie Jackson is an appointed governor representing Mansfield District Council.
Angie was elected as councillor for Kingsway Ward in Forest Town and is also part of the Mayor’s Cabinet as the joint portfolio holder for Wellbeing, Health and Safer Communities.
Having taken retirement from the NHS after almost 40 years where she worked as a nurse, midwife and then as a manager, Angie has continued to do some work within healthcare and has been an exam invigilator at a local school.
Angie is passionate about the NHS and is delighted that she has this opportunity to use her skills and experience to work with SFHT, supporting them to deliver excellent care to the community and acting as a link between the trust and the councillors who represent those communities.
Outside of work and council commitments, Angie likes to get outside and walk her dog, or run, and enjoys going to the theatre and concerts with her husband.
Councillor David Walters - Ashfield District Council
Councillor David Walters is an appointed governor representing Ashfield District Council.
He has served in the armed forces and until retirement worked with a world leading company that specialises in dialysis treatment and care.
Councillor Dr. John Doddy - Nottinghamshire County Council

John has been a doctor in the NHS for 40 years and Public Health and the prevention of illness and disease are areas where he would like to be most impactful over time.
An elected County Councillor since 2012 and current Chair of the Health and Wellbeing Board for Nottinghamshire, John brings high-level committee experience and extensive healthcare knowledge to support the Board, as well as lots of enthusiasm.
John, who has been married for 36 years, has three grown up children and two grandchildren.
Julie Scarle - Volunteers
Julie began volunteering at Kings Mill Hospital in 2022 and knows first-hand the positive contribution our volunteers make to the wellbeing and experience of our patients. She is passionate about making sure that the voices of the Trust's dedicated and caring volunteer community are heard.
Julie is registered blind and has been thrilled by the positive response she has received as a disabled volunteer from ward staff and patients at the Welcome Treatment Centre where she volunteers, and from Voluntary Services who have focused on her abilities not her sight loss to facilitate her rewarding role.
She is mindful of the tremendous difference volunteers make across our community as she also volunteers for HM Courts and Tribunals Service, and the Patient Partnership Group (PPG) of her GP practice.
Prior to taking early retirement, Julie gained valuable professional experience as a Marketing and Engagement Manager for a leading local sight loss charity and spent more than a decade working in communications at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Julie lives locally with her husband and has two grownup children and a young granddaughter.
